Default RE: Corvettes at Carlisle

Hi, just wanted to get a feel for anyone from the forum going to Corvettes at Carlisle this coming weekend? I know alot of you are from States away, but this is a humongus event, over 10,000 corvettes last year passed through Corvettes at Carlisle in PA. It is a sight to see. when I get on the road to get there (24 -26 Aug) I just get in the line of Vettes and cruise. Vettes and Vendors as far as the eye can see, it's a fantastic event that a Vette owner has to experience. I will post pictures that I get from there for those of you who can not make it.
For those forum members who can make it I will be wearing a white gangster hat that will have a band around it that say's "Manny's C4". So if you happen to see me I'd like to shake your had as a fellow forum member.

This is what I'm driving:

Just my own special C4. If I can help anyone look for something please drop me a line, but I can only get contacts for ya (don't have that much money) but I'd be more than happy to look and ask. so please if you have any requests, respond to this post by noon on Friday so I can establish my list. This forum has been great to me so I just want to give back.

Thanks,
Manny

I've been there 3 times and yes.........it's Corvettes version of Mecca. I just wish they would hold it in like September. The heat is debilitating.......

Have a blast on our behalf though.....

I could've sworn I saw a thread that said they were taking a picture of all attending forum members at the grandstand on Saturday at 12:30.

Hi Manny,

I'm headed out that way with the wife early Saturday. I'll look for the forum get together around 12:30 and look for you. I'll be the goofy looking bald guy with glasses. (probably a lot of us around :-)

Does it matter at all that we're coming in my C6? My absolute favourite is my C4 but my wife wants to attend in the Z. My C4 is red and we could have parked with the American Heart association folks but maybe next year.

See you out there :-)

Well folks I went to the gathering on Saturday, and while it was hot out, it was a great event! Started out about 8:30 am and got on the road just in time to get in line with some C4's C5's and C6's along the way. I had to make a pit stop or two but the drive was great and the car performed excellent and in some spot's I even took the speed gauge off the map. the car ran about 187 - 200 degrees F the whole way (This is the longest run I've made in this car since I fixed my problems) The event as always was a blast, many many vendor's and got to check out Chip Millers speech followed by and engine rev and a moment of silence. I saw so many beautiful cars it was unreal, as far as the eye can see. Unfortunately a storm rolled in that evening and it appears a tornado or something touched down that evening and some tent were blown over and some folks were hurt, so my prayer go out to those who were injured. But the show did go on and sunday was another hot day. I went through my list below and this is what I came up with:

Rocketvette89

Thanks for the offer to look for parts. I need a 3rd brake light for a 89 vert. Want one in like new condition. Mine is faded.

Thanks,

Rocky

Silverman6602

Im looking for a black glass top for an 89'.... if you know of anything like that

Manny,

This will be the first time I am going and really look forward to it. I will be there on Saturday and hope to meet a couple of folks on the forum.
I hope I will have the opportunit to bump into you.

C4DERF

Hey Manny,

Thanks for making this offer to other vetters! I am looking for a couple of small parts for my 94 LT1 coupe:
1) passanger arm rest pad
2) seat release bexel(s)
3) I need a set of 5 trim panel buttons for Light Beige interior (these snap into the bottom of the lower door panels

BTW: Fantastic looking vette, me gusta el color, muy bonito

If you find any or someone who can provide the parts at reasonable price it would be tremendous. My e-mail is fcandrews@charter.net

Out of all the vendors that I got to, it seemed that this company was the most reasonable:

Smart Parts
1404 E. Chestnut
Mason City, IL 62664
217 482-3393 fax 217 482-3354

Now for those who were on my list here we go:

RocketteVette89 - 3rd brake light - Well did not thing about it it at the time but you did not provide a color for this light, but regardless of that I looked and looked but did not find one.

Silverman6602 - I did located a top as you described but it was not in very good condition.

BobL - Sorry I did not run into you while I was there, I was really looking forward to it. I wore my darn hat with pride as a forum member!!

C4DERF - I recommend the vendor above, they are very reasonable.

I hope I was able to provide what information I could. It was terribaly hot and we when from tent to tent trying to stay out of the sun and trying to find a fan, LOL. But none the less the aura of the Vette still remains in my heart.

LEEFarah - sorry I did not get a chance to meet you as well as I have dealt with you on parts before

thanks to all who joined with me on this venture!!

Hi Manny,

I'm soooo sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you in person. My wife was almost on the verge of having a heat stroke on Saturday and she insisted that we sit infront of the fan in the womens tent where the wine slushies were served.

I spent a lot of time walking around that tent and back and forth to mid america and the GMPP tent. Noon came and went and I completely missed the forum gathering.

I don't know why the forum doesn't have a tent where folks can come and meet one another and chat. Are booths expensive or something? That would be ideal for next year.

You were 100% correct. Carlisle is the best car show I'd ever seen and the sheer number of vettes was amazing. Even the wave was dispensed with mostly.

Anyway, now that I know what your car looks like I'll keep an eye out for you in future events and will say hi in person soon :-)

See ya out there.
