84 Just wont quit!
It does have the original cross fire injection and the VATS system has been completely wired around (by someone else).
If you have any experience or advice on cross fire injection i would love to hear from you!
Thanks for your time,
Dan
Are you referring to the "security" system on your 84? It used a standard key, and had an interlock system with the door locks and a plunger switch mounted on the back inside of the door. It will activate the horn when the system is armed. I don't think that this system will have anything at all to do with the car continuing to run, even if the security harness was "improved" by Bubba somewhere along the line.
I agree with CFI that you should get the wiring right, regardless of the running on issue. One thing that turned me on about my 85 is that there hasn't been a wire cut into anywhere on the car. Sure makes life a lot easier not having to wonder and scratch your head guessing at how things are supposed to work.

I tried cleaning the fuel injectors, I made sure there were no air leaks and now that electronic trouble is out, I just don't know where to go from here.. any ideas??

I always figured it was the mas air power/burnoff power that I had tapped into. The computer leaves this power energized for a while to power the burnoff relay.
You might have someone using that power for an accessory with a sneak circuit going into the ignition.
For instance, a stereo amp needs 12 volts from the battery, and is also switched on by ignition volts coming from the ignition/accessory switched power. A failing or overheated amp might have a blown diode or something..... or whatever is added to your electrical system.
