Default c4 auto differential ratio

What rear end ratio works well to improve performance with an L98 automatic for street use. I am especially interested in real world experience.

If its stock, it doesnt need more than 3.07.

Thanks for your input. I may make mods, including larger displacements eventually. It seems that many people are going to 3:54, or 3:73 gears. How does cam spects, displacement, and other mods effect choice of gear ratio. Does anyone know of a book, or article about this issue?

Many of those you see here going to those ratios have LT1, which has a broader powerband than the L98.....and the lower ratios they pick get them to the sweet spot in the band quicker, so they tend to see great results in ET from simple gear changes.

Nearly anything you do that increases HP substantially or really moves your power peaks upwards will respond well to gear changes. But the question is too complicated to answer simply. Displacement increases would be pointless to me if youre putting stock TPI intakes back on it, because the bigger engine is still breathing through a straw.

All I would recommend is to plan out mods and then pick a ratio that will work well with it.

I suppose there is also a trade off between lower ET's, and streetability that is more subjective. Mabe I wiil go for the 3:07"s. I was thinking a little lower. Thanks for the advice.
