A friend at work just got his 2001 Cobra broke in so we did a run from a roll up to about 85 mph. I got the jump and he stayed right at my rear fender the whole race. Looks like the Cobra has some power FINALLY. I guess I can quite calling them Slowbras now.
All I have done is the 1/8 and my best is 8.58 @ 83.42 mph
I think car and driver got a low 13 out of it. They have independant rears in them now.....bring em on. The svt director mentioned that they intend on coming after the vettes with their future cobras.....good luck.... cuz they're gonna need it :flag
Motor Trend just did a comparo with a '02 Camaro SS and a '01 Cobra. Cobra managed a 13.79 at 103.34. While the Camaro did a 13.49 at 107.34 in the quarter mile. I think my LT4 will out run a Cobra :D

So if that is true, my 8.5 in the 1/8 should translate to a 13.7x  I think the low 13s in the 1/4 is more realistic for the Cobra.
Your 8.58 is more like 13.30 or 13.20. I've ran an 8.60 in my 95 with $200 in Mods, and I've also ran 83, all on steet tires. (See sig).
Muscle Mustang tested the New Cobra and Evan Smith powershifted into the 13.20's but the MPH was only like 103 or 104 and they dropped the tranny doing that the first day. POS. :p:
They are deffinately not up to par with the LT4! In my opinion the only thing svt has going for them is the lightning.....GM needs a new performance truck.
Its all gonna come down to driver when you have 2 manual trans cars racing.
The Cobras move pretty good but I think the LT-4 has the edge. My friend has a 96 Cobra and with nothing more then a pair of flowmasters in place it ran 13.51@105 on Comp T/A street tires with 30K on them. When my LT-4 was stock I ran 12.89@109MPH. I would certainly think that the LT-4 would really start pulling away in the big #'s (100MPH+)
While we're on the subject. I just thought I would mention this guy in my Geology class. He drove a regular old V-6 mustang with Cobra badges. He says he outran Z-28's all day. He says he races them on the interstate all the time and wins. I told him to take it to the track, his answer "sH$$$t, a v-6 in the quarter, that wouldn't do anything" Yeah, just like it doesn't do anything on the street. Whatever the little punk thinks is fine with me.
Well a few weeks later he gets himself a real Cobra. 96, completely stock. "I rode this new vette's a$s on the interstate, he couldn't get away from me."
I told him that the only way he beat a new vette is because the vette didn't realize there was a race going on.
He refuses to race me. He's a spoiled little rich ***** who might as well be driving a Honda. Funny to talk about though.
I was in a High Performance Driving "Experience" with a 2001 Cobra last month and I can tell you, they have some power. When we got off of the twisties and up onto the high banked front straight at Texas World Speedway I couldn't make up an inch on the Mustang. He was manual tranny, I was automatic but I ate him up in the twisty portion of the road course. I was pretty impressed with the power it had. Of course, my LT1 was stock back then.........
Smoked a black cobra convertable last week with my highly modified '92 vert. It has, get this, a K&N air filter. I was next to him at a light. He started it, I finished it passing him at 20 and pulling away until I had to stop at the next light. I didn't break any laws though. BTW, anyone wanna buy a bridge?
