I'm having a problem, when the engine is cold...although it has happened when warm. I get a Service Engine Light. I check the codes and 42 is the only code. It is strange since it is not always doing it. I thought the wires were bad on the connector for the electronic timing advance. The wires looked pinched, so I cut the wires and put in a new connector...Same problem.. Code 42
What else should I be looking for?
-BTW This is an '87 Roadster with 27k miles on it.
If anyone has recently unplugged the EST plug near wiper motor to set the timing for example, code 42 will be thrown which is normal. If it has not been unplugged by anyone, use the above link to fix you issue.
After running through the steps I replaced the ignition module yesterday. I thought the problem was fixed, but on a cold start I'm still getting code 42. I'm going to run through the steps again to see if there might be something I missed. Is there any additional info for intermittent codes?
