This is kinda a status update for anybody who cares, I have some questions at the end if you would like to skip all the update parts.
Last night I started to rip into my car. I am going to be installing a set of Hooker Long Tubes and trying to fix an oil leak. In two hours last night I was able to remove the belt, alternator, radiator fans, radiator, and water pump. I caught "most" of the coolant.
Anyway from what I can tell my oil leak is crazy. I haven't been able to figure out exactly where it is coming from, it's really hard to tell. The whole timing chain cover is coated, along with the front of the block. I would think it was an intake leak, but I'd fixed that already so I know it's not there. It could just be seeping out all around the timing cover, I know it is leaking where the water pump drive gear goes. The seal on that just doesn't look healthy. I'll be removing that gear and plugging that hole.
Tonight I'll probably take the intake off and maybe the torque arm / driveshaft. I'm very quickly getting to the point of not being able to do anything until I raise up the motor. Why did they have to put the cross brace where they did?
Anyway, what all is involved in disconnecting the ASR system? I've never had it off before and I will need to in order to install the headers.
Also what about the AIR pump. I am going to remove it, what happens when I disconnect it? What do I have to do to avoid throwing some codes?
Overall the project is going well. I hope to have it running again ASAP.

Well the AIR system is gone now and the tranny is on the floor. Now all I need is an engine lift so I can attend to that oil leak. Once I get that finished I can start on the actual header install, if I have some headers by then.

Make sure it's not a/c compressor oil; might be the compressor seal leaking. Usually, this type of leak is first noticable when it gets picked up by the belt and you'll see a pattern across the underside of the hood and on the right A-arm. R12 oil has a pretty distinctive odor about it too which might help rule it out as a cause.
