Default Oil change question ..

In the past I've taken my C4 to the dealer for oil changes, but I'm going to start doing it myself. I'll be using a kwiklift to raise the car, and when elevated it leaves the car at a slight angle .. front a little higher than the rear. For my C5, I know I need the rear a little high to drain the oil (and I'll back on to the lift) .. my question is .. for the C4, should the front or rear be elevated to provide the best oil drainage? I guess the real question is whether the oil drain is near the front or rear of the oil pan?

Thanks for the quick reply .. I thought the C4 wanted to be a little higher in the front, but wanted to be sure before I got it in the air.

Ditto for my `92, Jerry. I just use the Rhino Ramps from Wal-Mart. The angle seems to work to my advantage. You're right. Do your own oil changes. You'll save loot and the piece of mind that comes from knowing the job was done right is priceless.

On the LT1, I have found that if you raise the front of the car, say like on ramps for by using a floor jack under the front cross member, more oil will drain out than if level and I can get a full 5 qts in it and be right at the full mark on the stick. Do your own for a quality job. Just remember to have the oil hot so it will drain and not leave sluge in the pan. Sid.
