Back in 95/96 my Vortech S trim kicked out 405 rwh on the stock engine. This was with a Hypertech chip and the Lucas injectors furnished with the kit. Probably could have done better but didn't realize at the time the fuel pump should have been replaced.
Should I deduce from the lack of responses that these are not popular upgrades?
Thanks again,
Jay
I think most folks on this forum are looking for more HP than the basic procharger or vortech kit provides. I know that going putting a supercharger on my GS and heading out with around 400 RWHP would be disappointing when a basic upgraded LS1 with a cam will easily exceed that number. I went ahead and built an engine ready to handle a decent amount of boost. Now if I could only get the time to finish the engine, install, and tune the combo...
1994 LT1 6spd Procharger
With no other mods - 365 rwh @ 6-7lbs boost.
Mileage was about 23K when I had it installed in 2001. Now has 40K. Other than replacing the clutch (about 2 months after installation), no dependability issues whatsoever.
Have not had it dynoed since I installed long tube headers and 3" exhaust, but I would guess about 15-20hp increase.
Jay ... this may relate. I installed a Powerdyne SC kit on my 1995 Trans Am. Sotck LT-1 with MAC headers, stock cats, 1.6 roller rockers, and 58mm TB. I deleted the FMU set-up and added 36 lb. injectors. I pullied the PD head unit to put out 6-7 lbs. boost. I tuned the set-up using LT-1 edit. Motor made 429 RWHP and 440 RWTQ.
This was on a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am LT-1 motor with 4L60E tranny (stock torque convertor) and 3.73 gears. Running on Nitto 275x17 tires the T/A ran a best of 11.86 at 119 MPH and was usually in the 11.95 to 12.05 bracket on a weekly basis. I live in Orlando Florida so heat and humidity plan a part in the times.
The really coll part was that you simply couldn't hear the Powerdyne unit at idle or even when stomping on it. Except for the polished custom wheels is was a real sleeper. Especially with a 50+ year 'ol man at the wheel (just teachin' the youngin's some repsect ;-)
I am now in the market for a Vortech SQ system to install on my '95 LT-1 Corvette Coupe. Anybody have a good line on a very good price? Need another project car for a SC install? It is a stock LT-1 with auto and 63K mles on the clock.
Hi- I have a 1992 Automatic car with a procharger, forged internals in motor, AFR 190 heads, and a 114 LC comp cam at .544 lift and 220/230 degrees at 0.050 lift. after tuning it made 496 HP and 494 torque. I made about 10 PSI at 6000 rpm with belt slippage.
Also have 48 lb. injectors, 255lph pump in tank, and a dyno tune by PCM for Less.
TPIS Headers, custom 3 inch "X" pipe, and 3 chamber flowmaster mufflers, and a 58mm throttle body.
With the stock motor and 7 PSI boost it made 436/436 HP and Torque. This motor broke while using the FMU on the car.
I have a Vortech car, but it is not lightly modded, as it has CNC LT4 heads & Intake, Lingenfelter cam, JE pistons and a compete fuel system. OH, and Water injection But it made, with an agressive tune, 529 rwhp and 505 tq, I haveit detuned for DD duties to about 500 rwhp. It will pull as much as 128 mph in the 1/4 on street tires and a good day, consistetnly 123-125 mph.
