Default Transmission problem

Tranny hasn't been slipping or acting up. On my way home from work today I took off from a light and it would not shift out of first gear. I tried taking from overdrive to drive still didn't shift. I pulled over and check the fluid and for leaks everything is normal. I decide to drive home since I wasn't that far from home. Still won't shift until I let off the gas it wnt into second. I had to stop at a light when I got going it won't shift again, I dropped the selector to 2nd and it went into 2nd it then would shift from 1st to 2nd. I was able to get home every gear works it just won't up shift in drive and OD. I got out check the fluid again it's fine. I then reached up and touched the trans cooler and it's cold and so are all the trans lines. Could it just be the pump and not the whole trans. I hope any help would be great. '87 auto 700R4

I just drove to my parents down the street and the shifted fine. I checked the cooler and the lines and they where hot, the return line was cooler then then the incoming line. They only thing is the oil and coolant temps got hotter then normal pretty quick. I don't know whats going on. I know if I take it in there going to want to rebuild.
