Default Gears/converter question

I have my 3.54s sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. The question is will I have to put a higher stall converter in immediately or can I just get away with a gear change and do the TQ at a later date?

Do the converter at your convenience. No reason that the 2 MUST go hand in hand.

Thanks Pete....probably talk to you about the TQ. I hear you can get ahold of a 9 or 91/2' 2400 stall that kicks Butt!

You can do either, neither or both. It makes no difference. Which you do, or do first, depends in what you want to achieve. A gear change is always present, and always in play. Gears will help your 1/4 mile time, and acceleration at all times and speeds. A converter will only help you off the line, but what a help! For the 1/4 mile, the converter will make the more dramatic and greater improvement, but in daily driving, the converter is pretty much out of the picture above 30 mph, and on the highway, locked up, it is a non issue (no mpg compromise). For all around every day use...Gears. For the greater improvement in your 1/4 mile ETs...Converter.

RACE ON!!!

I installed my 2500 rpm converter 2 years after my 3.54 gears. You will still notice a difference. No hurry.
