Default Broken Vac line at firewall

I broke the vacuum line at the firewall behind the distributor. As I understand it it runs the hvac doors and part of the cruise control. Is there an easy wat to replace it or is there an alternative location that can be used. I'd really love to put it back in the original location. I just can't see how to evwn get to it inside or outside. I was told it is in with the wiring harness but don't even see the end at all. Could care less about the cruise but fall is here and I want my doors to work properly. The snow really builds and ices with it just blowing wherever. Oh yeah these cars don't melt in the snow as I have heard.
Thanks Brian

Can you see the break ?? A piece of rubber hose will splice the two together.
The vac line is in the big harness behind motor. You can see the large connector for harness, on pass side of firewall. Unravel the tape if it broke inside the bundle.

.....or a small piece of copper tubing slipped INTO the hose at each end for the splice.....

That would have to be one skinny piece of tubing.

You can "splice" it maybe. OK if it works for you. Where I work we are told " If you don't have the time to do it right, when are you going to find the time to do it over" I have a 19+ year old Vette and I don't want it full of bubble gum and baling wire. Don't get me wrong I have made a few shortcuts on mine but they will addressed asap. I don't want to tear apart my A/C Heater Control until I know what I am doing. Good Luck

......splices are made all the time and if done correctly, should not be a problem....if you want to tear into the firewall or dash, "have at it"....if you do the splice corectly, you can wrap tape around it after the splice if there is enough exposed OR "string" some new line.....no "bublegum and bailing wire" involved......good luck!

There is nothing wrong with using baling wire.

I bought a vac tube repair kit at the local auto parts store for like $10. it has tons little rubber pieces in it for reconnecting or capping off just about anything. I had to totally redo one line that broke in several places and spent another $6-7 on a roll of the tubing.

All cheap fixes.

a small piece rubber hose to stick each end into is the cheapest/easiest fix though.

Default Tips

I want to thank everyone for the quick replies. I especially want to thank PACER86 for the pics. I was under the impression the vac line was by itself but now with the pics i see it is in the harness. I will have to look again at lunch time to investigate it further.

Thanks
Brian
