Default Passenger window won't work!

Last week, the passenger window of my '93 decided to just stop working. Fortunately, it is stuck in the fully rolled up position, since it is November in North Idaho. It gave me no warning whatsoever that it was going to die. You can't operate it from either the driver or passenger side. Any ideas?

bad regulator usually, happens alot with power windows. Id take it to an auto glass shop and it usually costs something like $200

Mine does this about once every six months. Hold the bottom in the down position and head for some bumps.

I know mine is a totaly differant year...but it stopped working last week...turned out to be a loose plug on the motor....lot of work to get it out.....also had one go out in my chrysler many years back....I just pulled it out and rebuilt it cleaned it and sanded all contacts...it worked then too.....
No quarrenty your problem is the same...but it is always best to rip it apart yourself first before you take to shop...could save you dough.

I have a detailed troubleshooting and replacement procedure on my home page under tips. It's about a 3-4 hour job to replace the motor if that is the problem. Moter is $95 from Ecklers. Water had gotten into my motor and the brushes rusted in a fixed position.

I did my drivers side. If you're prone to doing work yourself, and aren't afraid to tackle a job, then you can do it yourself. I got my motor from http://www.tld-corvette.com/ for $75. Took me about 2-3 hours. This wouldn't be a job for the first timer or someone that has a small tool box. Make sure you get some detailed instructions on how to tackle it if you decided to do it yourself.

Wow! you got screwed big time! I bought a new regulator and motor on Ebay for $50, and took less than two hours to put it in.

Can you get just the parts?

My is making a "stripped gear" sound.

Scares the poopie out of the passenger!

You have to pull on it to get it to close full

Ecklers, CorvetteCentral, MAD. All have the motors/ and/or regulators with motors. IMHO I'd get the regulator w/motor attached. Costs a little more, but you might as well change the whole thing at one time...also the job is easier and faster than replacing the motor alone.

I didn't find it that difficult. Remember the screws behind the door light and behind the door lock. Also on the passenger side their is an "S" bracket holding the door panel to the frame. Remove the door lock switch and you can get to the screw releasing this "S" bracket. The rest is pretty straightforward. Remember to mark window glass position before unbolting the glass from the regulator. You don't have to remove the window, but it must be disconnected from the regulator. Unplug the motor, 2 bolts on top, 2 bolts on bottom. Out she comes...reverse and you're back in business.

I've just recently done both of mine.

I didn't! this happened the day I test drove the car. I got the guy I bought it from to get it fixed before I got the car. I would've done it myself.

The window could just be stuck. The window in my 92 stopped working this week with no warning in the up position. When you hit the switch nothing happens. No sounds, no nothing. At first I thought it was a bad switch because when I took it out you could tell it had been tampered with by the previous owner, but that was not the problem (replaced anyways with a used one that was in better shape). I then removed the window, and was about to remove the regulator completely when I decided to try operating the regulator without the window in it. Guess what, the regulator worked just fine. Some how or other the window got so jammed up, that the regulator could not move it. Good luck.

Good move. I thought about doing the same thing, instead I used that you help talk the guy down $1000 on the purchase price.

Mine did it not long ago too. Turned out the spot weld on the scissor came loose. 2 hours and $5 later, good as new.
Good Luck
