Default HELP...did i break something???

ok, i'm still ready to :U and this all happened Sat. night. I don't usually take the vette out now due to the weather. It was so nice out that i decided to go for one last final ride. I left at around 8 and the car started fine, no problem! i drove with my friend and about 10 min later going up the highway i got on it in 4th gear, still fine! Pulled real hard due to the extra cool air :D ! So i then get off the exit and come to a stop due to cars coming, pull out easy in 1st and go to hit 2nd hard to smoke them for my buddy and the car falls on it's face hard! I looked back and seen some back smoke. Immediatly after the car began missing bad!! I thought i blew a plug wire off( i did this before) so i went to a well lite place and opened the hood. NOTHING!! I turned around and went home...the car was still idling fine! Pulled in garage and let it cool down, then came back out and started it(hoping maybe it went away)and it still idled fine but when hitting gas you can hear the miss!My dad says he thinks the SC sound has changed but i disagree!! It sounds fine at idle but under throttle there is a bad miss...so i checked all the wires and all were on..some seemed loose. I pushed them back on to be sure then started it again..and it's still there?? I'm so upset now i'm ready to go :U again!!! I took 3 wires off the pass. side while the car was running to see if it would make a diff. and it didn't. Should i cont. to do this with all the wires to see if it makes a diff.?????? Any ideas or suggestions would be great....i'm back at college now so i can't really do anything till i go home on Thursday!! Does anyone think i broke something? Valves, rocker, lifters etc.....??? HELP

Did you check your timing? ESC gone bad, distributor/distributor gear? Fuel pressure ok? clogged filter, bad regulator? If you still get black smoke, I would guess a timing/spark issue. Just some thoughts, good luck.

Honestly it should make a difference if you pull plug wires. I know you were joking, but seriously I would pull plug wires and see what happens, see if ANY cylinder makes it run worse.

Could be many things, from bad TPS to broken valve springs to skipped timing to...well, almost anything.

No computer codes at all? How about a compression test? Pull an injector wire connector to see which ones make no difference, there's a lot to check for from this point.

Hate to do a compression test already..really just afraid too!! why would it still idle fine? this is where i'm lost...2 buddies said about the ignition box which is a msd 6AL, do these go bad? How can u check them?? Anyone agree with this? If i did something to the vavle spring etc. would it be noisy in the head near the spot?

I think you only have an ignition problem and not broken valvetrain. It could be a cracked distributer cap or carbon trails in it (under load, short to ground)

I will check all the above info. when i get home, thanks again guys!! Now that i think of it, i can remember seeing the tensioner moving probally about an inch. Is this bad? Should the tensioner be completely still? Is there anyway to check to make sure the MSD box is ok? i have alot of ppl telling me it has something to do with that!
