Default More Money....For Nothing!

Hello All,

I have finally gotten around to installing my new, and expensive, plug wires, plugs, cap, rotor, the whole deal on my '90 L98. After many questions and a lot of planning, or so I thought, my method of routing the plug wires was wrong. I at first ordered a set of Made-For-You over the valve cover wire looms, after further inspection they did not seem like they were going to work. The drivers side isn't that big a deal with a PCV all the way forward on the valve cover, but the passengers side is nightmare. The first obstruction is the heat riser for the EGR, then immediately after that you have the other PCV valve, then you have the oil fill cap all the way forward. It's like an obstacle course! Thinking I was being smart, I never took the first set of looms out of the package so I could return them. I found a new solution on the back of the above package, Made-For-You makes a set of vertical looms that mount on top of aluminum brackets. The brackets mount where the OEM brackets used to go, just one problem. The loom doesn't clear the heat riser on the passengers side, so now I am back to square one. The OEM looms are brittle, broken, and look like 17 year old looms. Is is possible to route spark plug wires on these cars cleanly, without touching each other or any of the other obstructions? Are you using aftermarket valve covers to do it? I feel like I am making a mountain out of a mole hill, but I am pretty darn frustrated. Any suggestions that you all have will be greatly appreciated, send pictures if you can. Thank you in advance!

Adam.

After trying several different routes over the last couple of years, including the Made-for-You stuff, I ended up going back to the stock set up. It just looks cleaner to keep the wires off the top of the valve covers. I was still able to get all the factory wire looms from the dealer. I still had all my brackets that support the looms.

I have wondered myself if that wouldn't be the way to go. I still have all of the brackets, maybe I will go back to that. Thank you.

It's hard to beat the tidiness of the factory loom/wire arrangement.

Less is more when it comes to hose and wires crawling over your motor.

And, after 15 years with headers, I have never burnt a plug wire using the factory looms. Very hard to improve this layout.

Pete, just in case you don't look at the end on of your drag racing thread, welcome to NH! I made a comment in my post about spare parts, these are some of the spare parts that I referencing! Not that I would try to sell them to you. Welcome and
