Default Dash Install Part #3>>

Tonight I test fitted my dash pad to be sure I had everything Lined up. I also modified the Dash to Rear Harness to mate correctly. I still need to connect my Engine to Dash harness and re-adjust some end brackets. I am still waiting for the Driver side support Bracket and Windshield Trim.. but it is starting to look like a Dash again :D

Great work. How many hours do you have invested in this so far?

Since you are there already. What's the easiest way to take out the lense for the speedo, etc. What do you need to remove to get behind the lense. I have a spot of dirt on the inside of my lense I haven't been able to access and its right where the fuel gauge is so it bugs the heck out of me. I just want to be able to get a small paper towel back there with some windex without having to drop the steering column.

4 screws hold the lense to the cluster. I am not sure if the dash pad has to come out to get to the top screws.

I actually need to order a new lense, the one I have is all scratched up and want to replace it while it is apart.. I also am debating on upgrading to the 8k Tach while it is apart

You are supposed to drop the steering column, but I got mine out without doing so. It's pretty tight, though. Unfortunately, what I thought was dirt, was discoloration, so I need a replacement as well. The dash pad doesn't have to come off.

Gotta question for you, Do you think there is any chance you could run a bar through the dash some how to support a full roll cage install?

I think if you created a bar to replace the aluminum beam you could.. Otherwise there is not much room

an earlier post questioned the number of hours invested thus far.

my question is how much $$$ so far and guess to complete?

Let's see:
$650 got me the Dash undercarrier, harness, console, steering column, Dash Pad, Glove Box, HVAC tubing. and a few odds and ends
$350 for a new engine harness
$50 for the pair of door panels
$50 for the dash hush panels
$150 approx for the A/C controller, cluster and headlight switch
$75 for the bezels and vents
$50 for the 7727 ECM
$150 for misc pieces I have missed

I think that is all

The Engine harness was not needed for the conversion but it is making things much easier and less to be concerned with when I turn the key

Hello Jeff! AWSOME JOB!!

Tell me how much was really a "Bolt on"? Did all brackets fit or did you had to modify em?
