Dumb question by C4 newbie. What controls the underhood lights? Is there a switch somewhere to turn them on or off? Mine don't come on and I traced the wires down the hood into a connector but see no switch? ???
Correct me guys if I'm wrong but I think they have a mercury switch, when the hood is popped they come on. I put a small roll switch (lowes or home depot, lamp type switch) on the wire to turn off when the hood is up for long periods. If they not coming on it could be a fuse.
They are on a mercury switch . You should be able to see a small glass tube with mercury in the tube. When the hood is up the mercury runs to the other side of the tube and makes the electrical connection and turns on the lights. Are you sure the bulbs are good? Some members have installed a inline switch to be able to turn the lights off when the hood is up for long periods.

.....there was a post on this w/in the last 5 days or so.......do a search!
On my 93 there is a fuse holder inside a cover, down behind the drivers headlight. If you followed the wires down, maybe that is the fuse holder you traced it to?
