A friend of mine who ownes KLJ Corvettes in Hanover MD is starting a R&D department and the first thing we are going to tackle is developing a Lt1 intake manifold based off the Ls1. If any of you guys out there with Lt1/Lt4's have any opinions or comments, let them fly. Hopefully we should have a prototype by early spring'08.

Sounds awesome! I am no engineer, but it seems to me that the secret to the ls1 intake is the combination of the intake and the heads. What would really get me going is an lsx based head that would bolt up to an ltx block.

Bad idea IMO. Thats exactly what I DONT like about the LSX engines is that the block is aluminum. Sure its great stock, but if you put a lot of mods into it you risk blowing that sucker up. I'll take an iron block any day.

I think a newly designed LT1 intake is a good idea though and i'm sure you can get aftermarket heads that will flow better than LS heads.

BacknBlack,

Where is your friend's shop? I live right down the road from there and have never heard of them. It is always nice to know local shops and folks working with our cars.

I asked this same question not a month or two ago. Good responses there, lemme see if I can dig it up. I came up with two separate designs, and if I don't sell my 92, I'll make them.

Good luck!

If you want to get together anc compare notes, I'm game. I'm not in it to make money yet.

I think KLJ used to be in the industrial park down from Burger King on Dorsey rd. across from the airport. But I have heard they moved? Not sure though?

its the cylinder head design that gives the LSx engines their awesome power producing characteristics, not the plastic intake manifold. if they could produce a LSx style head for the older SBC motors, thatd be amazing. but id assume theyd have to rethink the whole intake/exhaust port locations to do so. which would mean none of the existing Gen 1 & 2 intake manifolds or exhaust manifolds/headers would fit

Unbelievable - You learn something new every day here. I just Googled KLG and they are 4.7 miles from my front door. I'll have to give them a call one day just to see what kind of other cool stuff they are into.
I'd like to lower my car, but not sure I want to do the front end myself, maybe that is something they could help me with.

In that case how about a LTX manifold that will let you run 18 or 11 degree NASCAR heads?

They flow about 400cfm
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1827356

Large bore blocks for LTX engines would rock too

BTW if it has a distributor hole in it, that will open the door for those who want to dump the opti or run a conventional block.

Yes, a composite intake manifold with longer runners.

A bigger LTx block (400+), preferably aluminum.

I'd be in for an aftermark LTX block that was good for 400+ inches if it were priced in the same ballpark as comparable SBC blocks. However, I believe the number of LTX enthusiasts won't support the production level necessary.

Good luck on the intake
