Are you looking to drag race or just to have fun on the street and do burnouts? In my opinion (which isn't usually worth 2 cents) I think you would be better off staying with the 3.45's with a 6 speed if you are looking to race. Any more gear than that and you will have a miserable time trying to hook up, and spinning alot will cost you a ton of ET and MPH in the 1/4 mile. All it will want to do is spin. If road course racing I'm not sure which gear would be best. But, if you are looking to accelerate hard from a roll or from like 50 mph or horse around on the street or do major burnouts then by all means go to a 4.10.
I'm running Dana OEM 4.10's, the same as the Dodge Viper 4.10's.
Same here...one, if not the best mod I've done to the car.
Definite instant gratification mod which makes the car feel like it should have have come stock this way. Not over the top at all, just raises the fun to drive factor and keeps you in the power band. 2000rpm @ 70mph in 6th, so the car is still very interstate friendly.
You need to evaluate what you are going to use the car for. Drag racing - probably 4.10s or at least 3.90. Better gas mileage = 3.75 or (assuming your vehicle is an Lx) 3.54.
Rear end gears act as a torque multiplier (kinda like a higher performance torque converter in an automatic).....see
You can do it for under a grand. I purchased and shopped around for the best install price and walked away under $600. That was five years ago and I have had zero problems. That and longtube headers are my two best mods.
