i have a 93 vette with the 700r4. i recently got a new 700r4 but there is a little difference. the old trans i took out of my car has a round 5 prong plug and the new one has a square three prong plug. i called the builder and he said to take the wiring harness of my old one and put it on my new trans, but the new trans doesnt have two of of the things the wires hook to( i guess they are some type of sensor or soleniod) on the valve body. what are those things the wires hook up to and what do they do?
I think you will need to swap valve bodies to make it work, the wires connect to switches that tell the ECM what gear the trans is in, another switch keeps the torque converter from locking up at low temperature. 93 is kind of an odd ball, a transition year between the fully hydraulic 4L60 and 4L60E that came along in 94 which has an electronic governor.
Pete K will know for sure if swapping valve bodies will work, good luck.
I seem to recall the switch with two contacts is the one for the lock up converter, but can't swear to it. The service manual should help if you have one.

The only thing I can think of it affecting is torque converter lock up. From the wiring diagram it looks like the ECM monitors the open or closed state of the switches to determine the current gear. I'm not smart enough to calculate what leaving them all open will do, sorry.
Pete K. is the tranny guru, hopefully he will spot the post or you may want to try sending him a PM.
