Default elecetric water pump wiring problem

hi guys,
well after all my hard work and carefull moding, installing and wiring my csr electric water pump on my 1991 l98 vette,
i have a problem, the pump runs all the time even when acc switch or on position switch is off !!

i installed a painless wiring kit with it with circuit breaker and extra relay plus i hooked up the switched side to the pink fan relay wire and hooked up power to alternator connection,i ran the two ground wires togeather on a nice clean frame position and ran two 15 amp fuses one between alternator and circuit braker and another between pump it self and relay.

what could this be ?
what have i done wrong i wonder ?
any ideas/help please guys.
cheers
shae

Follow the, "hot", motor wire and you will find that you have it going to 12v, and not through the relay contacts. Or if the hot wire does go to the relay, you have connected the hot wire to the normally closed contact instead of the normally open contact. The NO contact closes when the relay is energized.

hi jfb,
thanks for your reply.
so r.e the relay, which number spade on the relay should the pump wire go to please ?

the relay has 5 terminals, and i just noticed that the blue (hot) motor pump wire was connected to # 30 terminal...
the terminal has also #85,now both 30 & 85 are marked as 12 volt i believe, then on the other side there is #86,#87,#87

now if the blue (hot) pump wire doesnt go to the 12 volt side, what wires should go there then please ?, obviously on the 30 amp side of the relay i guess ,but which number 86 or one of the two 87 numbers ?

i noticed the relay numbers drawn on top of the relay dont line up /match the rite wire numbers on the bottom of the relay also.

thanks for the helpful info and i hope some one can please varify the answers please.
cheers

Sorry, can't help with identifying relay terminal numbers and if they are N.O. or N.C. . I would think that there are instructions that came with the wiring kit. You can identify with an ohmeter the N.O. and N.C. relay contacts by energizing the relay coil and probing the relay contacts. If you can see the relay contacts you can identify by sight which contacts are NC and NO.
