I posted this under the audio catagory and received no response. So, I'll try here. I ahve a '94 with the Boze stock radio / cd. The right front speaker began buzzing above a certain volume. Cna I fix it? If I need to replace it what should I buy? Is the R&R difficult.
buy any single din head unit you want for the front (preferably one that plays Mp3s and has a front Aux input jack) $100+ , then a dash install kit and wiring harness ($15 and $10). For speakers, get some 6x9's for the rear and some 6" (I think is the size) for the doors OR for better sound, some 4x6's for the dash. Goto home depot and get a spool of cheap speaker wire and you are set.
Steve, FYI – Use Bose and you will get a larger response.
Check this thread. I have a lot of info in it of which I have performed myself and with the aid of other links to get me started. Don’t forget to check the first 3 links in my first post. Hope some of this will be of assistance, good luck.
Steve. Consider yourself fortunate that you own one of the later year Bose radio units. The earlier units, like I had in my 88, were next to impossible to replace the front door speaker amps because one had to rip the guts out of the door to pull the speaker box out.
JIJoe. I ran no speaker wires when I threw away my Bose system (I keep it in the garage for sentimental reasons). I used the Bose speaker wires. I just cut the connectors off and directly wired them to my new 6x9’s in the rear and 4 inch in the door.
