c tube difference

what is the difference between a standard and auto c tube

The length.

The standard is shorter because of the differance in size of the Dana36 and Dana44.

I redrilled my auto c-beam when I installed the Dana44 from a standard.

other way around.
D36 (std ) beam is longer than D44 beam because D44 housing is longer as shown by your need to reduce the center to center measurement of the holes

Two different ways of saying the same thing. The standard (D44)is shorter, or the D36 (automatic) is longer, means the same thing. The only thing wrong in all of the above, by both parties, is rodj's "(std)" after "D36". rodj, the D36 (longer C beam) is used on the automatic cars, not the standards (manuals).
