I replaced my Multec fi's (1990 L98 87,000mi.) with rebuilds from MotorMan. Cleaned plenum,TB, EGR. When I started the car it seemed to be starving for fuel. I had to race the engine to keep it from stalling. It didn't seem to miss but it did backfire. What can I do to fix it. Thanks in advance. Walt
I would put the old injectors back in. Rebuilt does not mean new. Did you mark or tag all injector wires before you removed them? Cross them up and it will never run right.
From what I was told, where electric lines go is unimportant. I did put them back the way they come out of the harness. I did a code check and I get three dashes for both #1 and #4. So I have no errors. Just for fun I pulled the ECM fuse but that made no difference. It seems to starve for fuel, but I won't have a pressure gage until tommorow. Any more help will be appreciated. Doesn't matter, it's a batch fire system. The ECM fires all the left injectors together and all the right injectors together.
I would look at your TB electrical first. All connections tight ??
You can verify if the IAC is working by jumping "A" and "B" on the ALDL. The IAC motor should be humming as it's trying to close the gap between pintle and seat.
TPS voltage can be checked with a DVM.
All vacuum lines connected correctly ??
Gives you something to do till you get your fuel pressure gauge.
