I've said it many times...Your worst day in a Corvette is STILL better than your BEST day in anything else. Buy it, enjoy it !! Digital? Wish I had one. I loved the one in my '84. I did learen one thing. Don't buy bulbs at the dealer. You can get those same $27.00 bulbs for about $8.00 from Grainger. (save the bases) :yesnod:
Phrogs, I spent 2 summers at Atsugi. I can't imagine having a vette over there. Hopefully you get opportunities to take it down to Repongi:cheers: I think the reason Japanese are "skeptical" about used cars is they have very stringent inspection laws for cars over a certain age (5 yrs I think) and it costs them a fortune to maintain them to those standards.
The big thing about having any car here is getting the GOJ inspection, these guys are just out for money its rediculous, There isnt a thing wrong with this car and they still failed me on stupid stuf like... they couldnt find the engine number like I stole this one and installed it come on !!!! And my wheels stuck out of the wheel wells!!! :mad
Oh it was fun but its worth it. I bought it becuase it was a monster of a deal and Im going to be taking it back to the states when I rotate,
I will never take it to mainland but thats where it spent 11 years of its life right in Tokyo.... hey if you get the car I hope you enjoy it..
I love my '89. The spedo is classic, the look is great and the price was right. It's not as fast as some of the newer C-4s, but I didn't buy it just for speed, but for looks.
I say go for it as long as you can verify the mechanical and body history and like every 'vette, you can be sure the frame is not bent or rusted.
