'85 Dual Exhaust Conversion -- Advice Needed
after installing my long tube headers i'm considering switching to the true dual setup. found out that my front y is pipe-in-a-pipe -- 2 1/4 inside 2 1/2. rear y looks to be 2 1/4. i have headman longtube headers w/ 3 to 2 1/4 reducers. still have the stock cat
(repaced 2 years ago). it sounds good, but from what ive read here the stock cat is very restrictive.i'm considering:
2 1/4 pipe from each reducer to either:
two bullet cats magnaflow 53005 in stock cat location (maybe staggered) then to
x or h pipe then to
chrome tips
or:
x or h pipe then to
bullet cats in stock muffler position then to
chrome tips
there's no room to put the bullet cats right after the reducers(i checked today)
my questions and concerns are:
what degree bends do i need?
will the bullet cat be hotter than a stock muffler?
x pipe vs. h?
is 2 1/4 big enough or do i need 2 1/2?
how much would either dual setup gain over just a highflow main cat such as a magnaflow 94019?
any other advice advice would be greatly appreciated!
thanks in advance
matt
