The clip holding the accelerator cables to the studded intake plenum bolt on my '87 -700R4 is held closed with a zip-tie. According to the parts manual this is item #10046046. I ordered one, but it doesn't have the hole in the bottom which the studded intake plenum goes into. Did I look up the wrong part number? Did they put the wrong part in the baggie labeled 10046046? Did GM change the part since the original piece in 1987? Was Bubba saving the original part or jury rigging a makeshift retainer? :D Anyone have a picture of what an original one looks like?
I don't know yet Tom. I ordered it but haven't been there to pick it up yet. I had some oral exams at school today so I'm only now getting back to even thinking about anything other than helicopter noise. ;) ~Juliet
Tom - I picked it up today, and unfortunately nope. It isn't the right part. The 15567924 is the part which holds the end of the accel in the clip. What I'm looking for is the plastic gizmo (ala plug wire retainers) which holds the Accel & Cruise control cables together and fits over the studded intake plenum bolt between the runners (sort of like a needle stud - thin thinggie sticking out). The parts guy found another number and ordered that one (I didn't write the number down). It was about a $7 thing, not a 71 cent thing. ;) I'll know when I get there Fri AM if that's the right part. :) Thanks for trying though. ~Juliet
Juliet, I apoligize BIG TIME, I misunderstood the part you needed. The fiche I have shows the plastic clip that holds the accelerator and cruise control cable to be 8917256 and gmpartsdirect.com shows this to be a GM Retail price of $7.93.
Not a problem at all Tom. :) This thing was a whopping $0.71 - and anyways when I was reattaching my cables I noticed one of the old ones was cad plated (like the replacement part, but yukkier looking  ) and the other was black phosphate coated. So, I'll just replace the yukky one with the shiney one. :D
But it of course makes me wonder from a NCRS purist nit pickey point of view - just which color one goes on which line - and what was the original finish on them from the factory? :)
...but hey, that's a good thing since this will be a really easily judged piece hanging right out there in the open breeze for the judges to see and deduct points for the incorrect finish. So, who's got cad plated clips and are yours tarnished or shiney? :smash:  :jester ~Juliet
