:o Yep! It's True! I forgot to mark the placement of my drive shaft, in relation to the rearend yoke. Ok, so there is a mark on the prop shaft, and rearend yoke. If I understand correctly. The marks should be 180* (opposite each other) apart when installed. Am I correct? I'd hate to have a vibration...
Hi Kevin, Yes, that was my assumption. I have consulted the manual earlier, but need to look it over again. My memory needs to be refreshed often LOL...
The manual says to mark the drive line so it can be installed as it came out. That really isn't necessary. If you had a new drive line built, it would be balanced, but not with the pinion yoke. The pinion yoke is pretty much in balance the way it is made. Don't sweat not having marked it. I never have, on any car.
driveshafts were ''final'' strobe balanced after assy on the line, no markings of orientation were made....toss it in, drive a few days, rotate 180* and see IF you notice...prolly won't.
if you've put on new u-joints, the factory balance job is n/a anyway.
FSM manual says to look for black dot on the shaft and yellow mark on the pinion yoke. Should be installed 180 degree's apart. I have installed mine both ways ...did not make a difference.
The important part is having good joints = no vibration
Thanks for the replies, I'll install it, and see what happens. It will be awhile. I am just installing the batwing, chunk, driveshaft, and c beam for now. I am going to powder coat the rest of the parts. At least I think I am. I have all the stuff I need to PC with, but I do have to run 220 line into the garage, for the air compressor, and the oven. I"ve never PCed, so I guess will see. I have to install the components mentioned above. To get the car out of the middle of my garage. I have a 4 pole hoise w/jack. I will have to push the hoist under the car. Then put my floor jack under the chunk. The front end is up on ramps. I will jack up the car via the chunk, remove the jack stands I have under the rear jacking points, the shove the hoist under to the front tires, then roll it on. When it is on board. I will use the rear jacking point again, using my hoist jack. And a partridge in a pair tree This should be quite an experience. I have not yet used the 4 post lift with a car on it. Been to busy. But it made great scafolding for painting the ceiling
