Default new emblems after paint shop

Well I've decided on my paint guy and it's going to the shop in a couple of weeks. Today I removed the hood, gas door and rear bumper emblems. The hood emblem is fine. The other two were stuck down with what appears to have been a gasket that acts like double face tape. Two questions. Is the hood emblem supposed to have this too? It did't. Also, when I order the new rear emblem, will it come with the gasket, and where can I purchase just the gasket for the gas door emblem? Thanks.

Yeah, the hood and gas door had nuts on the back but on mine, the gas door also had that double face type gasket like the "corvette" on the back. May have been one of those deals where they change something in mid year. Good to know your gas door emblem had no gasket though. If I can't find one I'll just forget it. I'm guessing the "corvette" will come with the double tape. I have to replace it as it suffered considerably in the removal process.
Thanks for the reply.

just buy new ones off ebay or from the corvette mags..why spend $1000+ on paint & not $50 for a pair of emblems..?

Well, I'm thinking along those lines myself. I still don't know if the double sticky gasket comes with the emblems or not. It comes with the "Corvette" across the back, but I was asking about the gas door emblem.

The ones i bought from GM have the stickey tape on them. Just have to remove the protective red film. That is the new style for the 96. I got them off E-bay for like $40 for the pair New in box.

All of the emblems I've bought come with the adhesive, but I recommend you take it off and use the bolts only. Makes detailing much easier: just remove the emblems and you can wax underneath them without leaving any traces of wax.

I replaced mine from The Last Detail. They came with two side foam tape. I think they were only like $16 or so a piece. Actually I left off the nuts. Use a wax like The Wax Shoppe that doesn't dry white if you are worried about that sort of thing. Works for me.
