84, well maintained, turned at the light and it died :mad I try to restart and motor turns over but no restart... Thinking fuel pump??????????? Anyone with suggestions..Yep it has a full tank of fuel......
Bummer,Is your Battery in there tight?
Spray some starting fluid at it & see if it pops.If so then yes its a fuel related problem.
Test fuel pump,Should be able to hear it when someone turns the key. Or hook up pressure gauge. If no, check relay by sending 12 volts to terminal g on the ALDC connector.
If its not fuel check spark.Could be distributor modual.
:chevy
Its not to hard to change. Its alot easier to check.
Theres an archives section to the forum where you will find alot of help.
Try the starting fluid test its an easy way to determine if you got fire or fuel.
Ignition moduals go out twice as often as fuel pumps.
If you made a hard turn and it died, I would suspect an electrical issue. If the engine mounts are worn, the main ground on the back of the DS engine/tranny housing bolt can rub the firewall a bunch. You might do a jiggle test. With the engine running (being optimistic that it is running sometime) grab all the wire harnesses and shake them. Note any change in engine running. -Matt-
I agree with the electrical issue. Take the ecm out and remove and reinstall the connectors to it. The older ecms use edge connectors which aren't all that reliable. If the connector contacts look dirty, go to Radio Shack and get some contact cleaner. Actually go ahead and clean them even if they look good. Also make sure the wiring harnesses in the engine compartment have not come loose and chaffed down to the copper wires causing a short some where.
How full was the tank. My 88 has problems taking a turn hard when tank is below 3/4. Autocrossing is really where I found this out. C4 tanks like to slosh away from the fuel pump causing engine to bog or die. :yesnod:
