That diagram is for the 88 and later cars. The 84-87 cars use an internal drum parking brake. While the main cable does run down the driver's side as shown, the individual cables were routed slightly differently with the cable ends going into the backing plates. The individual cable housings pass through a hole in the bracket that holds the dog bones to the frame.

c4cruiser and agent86.....thank you. When I bought the car the previous owner obviously had parking brake issues. He had removed all the cables and the parking brake shoes and hardware. I bought new cables and connectors but did not know the correct routing.
