first time i brought the 84 4+3 out to the track i just recently got it on the road. I hit a 14.7 at 91 MPH the car is stock crossfire so i was happy with the times now i have a foundation of what i do nets me what gains
Good job! My first time at the track I made a major mistake. After I staged, I was checking to make sure the traction control was off and that I had the car in drive. When I looked up the green light was on and the other guy was already gone!
Nice run! I'm hoping to have my 85 together for my first run on the 1/4 mile next Sunday. Sounds like you had a good time and some learning experiences. Time to buy some new tires!
My 85 in bone stock trim ran a (best) 14.9, altough I think the cat was clogged when I first bought it....I know others on the forum had better times with their "stock" 85's, but I guess mine was weak....not so much anymore...took care of that...

You realize, of course, that didn't affect your ET.
now i just need to figure out what i need to do to get it in the lmid to low 13 I was thinking LS1 swap but the amount of work and cash was kinda a turn off. i think im gonna stick with the cross frie for now. Seems like alotta fab work needs to go to a ls swap cuase of the 4+3 is that correct?
Mine is in the 13's with nothing done to the 165,000 mile engine other than a ported intake manifold.
RACE ON!!!
wow.. how did you manage that? a stock 84 is in the high 14 low 15 sec range when it was new.just porting the intake knocked off a full second ,that what a 75-100 hp shoot of nos does .i don't think the ported intake can knock off that much off your et.but i could be wrong i just want to know how you did it with a 205 hp car .
obviously a 84' with only a ported intake isnt going to be a high 13 sec car
he claims stock engine, and while technically thats true, im sure he has more mods done to the car than just a ported intake
headers, catback exhausts, gears, higher stall converters, drag radials, and the like dont actually require any "engine" disassembly. so the motor is "stock", but the rest of the car isnt im sure
CFI's car only has the ported intake, vigilante stall converter, drag radials and true dual exhaust. Correct me if im wrong CFI but its what memeory serves me.

165k and still going fast!
Correct, and thank you. That is a damn good memory, why do you know that? No headers, no gears, just what SHINOBI said plus a lot of time testin' and tunin'.
You are mistaken on one point, makn u shiver, I haven't just "knocked off a full second", I have knocked off TWO and a HALF seconds. And the poor old wheezer still burns a quart of oil every 2 - 300 miles, but has never had a head off.

that great wow you really must have that thing running great.2 1/2 seconds faster with basically a stock engine that takes some talent and know how.are you planing any major mods for the engine in the future? that would be great to see how fast you can go in a cfi .
