smaller cap distributor than msd 8366 ?

well i just recieved my msd small cap gm 8366 billet distributor to fit with my new 8 t/b intake and guess what, the outer edge in a couple of places hits the dam back of the 8 t/b intake.
gees what do i do now i ask ??
do you know of any smaller cap distributor in diameter that might be smaller than the msd 8366 model at all please ?
god, i cant win at times with this project i tell ya!!
any ideas please guys what i could do ?
thanks

thanks for the reply.
yep the msd is hitting where the cap and the distributor housing meet.
im not not sure how much i could grind off but msd tech guys said that the 8366 gm small cap is the smallest dsitributor avaialable at this time.
so gee i hope i can make it fit.
mind you i didnt have the dist sitting down all the way flush though,it was about sitting 2" up high as i havnt got the dist gear lined up with the teeth properly yet,so hopefully i wont have any problems with scraping hard up against intake runner manifold.
if you come up with any other ideas/help please let me know.
cheers

Fit under the stock hood??
I can see where the rearward TB intake area looks tight to the distributer.

when i first tried to fit the new msd dsitributor yesterday i really didnt want to have to start grinding/hacking into my nice new clean distribtor,
but today i took the plunge
well with mucking around the distributor for half the day, i finally got the msd distributor to fit thank god succesfully with out fu*cking the distribtor base/cap.
hi mark(dock351) yes mate the intake fits no problem under the vette hood, some guys dont bother running the i.a.c but i persivered with making up a mod unit.
btw for any one that hasnt seen this intake before it is made by a company called " dc&o products and services" (sydney -Australia.
cost $ 2,900 u.s dollars plus shipping.
so now that the dist is done, still have to work out if the aeromotive fuel reg /guage will work for me.
i wrang aeromotive tech guys and they said that the main fule line does connect to the side of the regulator and the return line comes out from the bottom back to the retun line, they said it may take a while/a few primes to pump all the fuel up though.
also thanks rodj for re posting the link on pictures up of the 8 t/b intake again for guys that havent seen my new intake yet
cheers

What did you eventually modify to resolve the interference problem.
I gather the housing was obstructed by the intake runner for #8.
Be aware that correct vertical positioning of the distributer housing
is important to achieve the correct engagement between the dist
gear and the cam gear. Also, the groove on the lower end of the dist
housing shaft section passes oil to the gallery for the right side bank of
lifters - the upper and lower lips of the groove seal the hole in the
block.

yep the msd dist was hitting on rear number 8 runner.
but after marking where it hits,i carefully ground down with a bench grinder the cap edge and dist base body, all is well now and fits/turns ok .
but i wish i hadnt of had to stuff around grinding as it was brand new and in mint cond,oh well .
thanks for the info on this distribtuor i have as far as fitting e.c.t !!
cheers mate
