You can grind the ridges down, same with the bump from the bolt boss....A little. Too much and youll go through. Rest of it try a flap wheel...I dont know that it would do much but it wont hurt. Are you doing your base too?

Getting new larger runners would be best. dagrump opened up the SLP runners and welded them back together. I will post a few pix. Perhaps something similar could be done with the stockers. I have read of others opening the runner, porting it, then closing the runner with epoxy.

As far as porting the runners, It's a losing battle. get some aftermarket runners off of Ebay. They're cheap enough. The stock runners don't have enough material to work with and you end up spending time and money for nothing.

While your at it get an aftermarket base. I used to port bases but it's a lot of work and like the runners the material isn't there to work with. If you put a ported base next to an aftermarket one the difference is dramatic.

There are links around for porting the plenum but just look at my website if you want and take some cues from there. Corvetteplenum.com

You might be better of buying a plenum from me. If you don't have the tools already it can get expensive. Don't think about trying to use a Dremel. You will be there for years! Check the FAQ page for more info that might be usefull.

Hope this helps-Mike

Stocker ported to a 1205, still room for more

Not completely finished but you get the picture
Runner gaskets would have to be made from gasket material and cut to fit

..And yes, going all the way through is an absolute nightmare but there is more meat there than most think.
This was a "quickie" job that took easily 20+ hours. Could have spent twice that if I wanted.

I bought a die grinder and bits when porting mine. Total cost was very low but I spent many hours. It was not very difficult. Pix:

Hi everyone. Is this what is meant when you say aftermarket runners and bases?

Is this better than the stock set up without porting them? It's by accel which is a well known company.

Better than stock but for the hp gain (dont believe the 15-20+hp) its not worth the $$.

there is a guy on ebay porting to the same specs as TPIS. He was quoting 200 for polished runners, and 200 for polished plenum. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Looks nice polished too.
