Nothing that spikes cylinder pressures is safe. Keep it to a well tuned 100 shot, and you "should" be fine. Run it lean, and it will pop.
Make sure your ignition and fuel system are on par or above.

do u mean i should upgrade the fuel pump and injectors, and if im increasing comp, would it be better to run race gas?
Before installing nitrous, you need to be sure of timing, fuel pressure, your tune in regards to advance. If it detonates you can almost be guarenteed of damage. Read, read and read some more about nitrous before you decide to do it. Faliure to do so might be a costly learning experience. Been there done that 15 yrs ago and won't go there again!

I say use it. Get as much info about it as you can. The more you know the safer it becomes. NOS, Nitrous Express and Edelbrock all have get Tech pages.
Hey ski_down_it, every motor fails, it's just a matter of time.

Your right they all do, its just a matter of helping it along.
Not saying not to use it; just saying that when you do it, if your prepared for the worst then there are no surprises.....especially when using it on motors/components that are not built for it initially.
Start low. Have you guys upgraded to MSD ignitions for when you use Nitrous Oxide?
I'm not using the MSD. I have about 6 deg timing pulled in the nitrous tune. I upgraded to 24# SVO injectors. I'm running NGK TR6 plugs gapped at about .032. I typically run a 125 shot on 93 octane. The Zex kit comes with an inline fuel booster and management unit. The management unit regulates the fuel based on bottle pressure.
