You have a short circuit in the back up circuit after the backup switch (if manual xmsn) or after the xmsn gear selector sw ( if automatic). I would first check the wires on the left and right rear cornering lights and the backup lights first. Then trace the wire from the reverse switch and look for worn insulation on the wire shorting to ground somewhere along its length. Make sure that the turn b/u fuse is 15 amps.

he never specified if it was a fuse or not. assuming it is, pop out the fuse that is for the lights in question and substitute a 12v cornering marker light or back up bulb and fasten to the contacts that the fuse would contact.

if the light is bright when applying the brakes, you have a short. if the light remains "dim", there is no short. this is what we used to do when troubleshooting concealed wiring in structures saving a lot of fuses and tripped circuit breakers.

You say the reverse lights blow. Do you mean that the backup light bulbs burn out, or do you mean they go out because the fuse blew? I don't see how the lights could possibly burn out since you have a 12v battery and 12v backup lights and no possible wiring fault can apply more than battery voltage across backup light bulbs designed to light up for a long long time with 12v applied.
