He got the spring part right, but if he can't figure out how to remove it I wouldn't trust him to install gears.

No lie. That shouts run and run fast to me, but best of luck to you if go forward there. Hopefully he isn't one of those that sets everything by "eyeball".

QUICK! Call a tow truck. Get your car out if there ASAP. Your car is in mortal danger and at risk of a thrashing by a terminally stupid wrench holder. First, you should have done the R&R work yourself, in your own garage, no special tools needed. Then, taken the diff to a COMPETENT gear shop to have the gears swapped. The fiberglass mono leaf rear spring only needs to have the nuts removed from the bolts through the ends of the spring. After that, there is no further messing with the spring.

Sorta--If he did not put in the additive as well as the 75w90 synthetic your clutch packs will burn out in fairly short order. Sounds like this guy is clueless. Try a google for corvette clubs in your area, maybe they could help you find a competent repair shop.

sounds like you need to find a reputable corvette shop and build a relationship with them. No reason your clutch and diff should be screwed up like this. Is this the same one who did your clutch? It would probably be worth the travel alone to not have to deal with this inexperience.

Sounds like the shop didn't match/balance the new flywheel to the original.

If I remember correctly, didn't you replace the EOM dual mass,FW with an aluminum single mass FW a while back? That is perhaps the "shaking" you are experiencing. Is it not making noise at idle with the clutch disengaged in neutral? If so, there is nothing to correct that other than have the the EOM, heavy, dual mass reinstalled.

On the rear gears, I agree with the others; sounds like the shop is not experienced with C4 Corvettes.

You don't need anything all too special for the leaf, but you do need some pretty special tools + parts to do the gear swap properly.

First he's gonna need a case spreader to get the carrier out/in

He is going to need dial indicator that he can mount on the housing to check backlash.

He's going to need a way to check pinion depth.

He's also going to need to measure the axle end play, and use the appropriate color coded snap rings to get the right end play.

Also, he's going to need to shim the carrier to get the right bearing preload + backlash. The shims go between the carrier and the bearing, unlike on a 10bolt.

I've done a bunch of rear ends, and even I was a bit uncomfortable the first time doing the Dana IRS. It was helpful to talk to a guy whos 'done it before' and to check the specs in the FSM. I'd be very worried if this guy hasn't been in one before.

thanks soo much, venting helps alot and having experienced people like ur selves to help also helps. Yeah the guy that put my clutch and flywheel in is about an hour away and wanted 300 to put my gears in, this new guy wanted 200. Now i know why. Thanks soo much for the info from 96 lt-4 i will try those places because I seem to have trouble finding my own places.this just sucks because I hate spending money on cars when they need it. I only like it when I spend money when it doesnt need it. Well I gues im gunna try and find a new or used oem flywheel for a good price because im stuck and for my gears. well i'll have to check with some other plcaes stated above. AGAIN thanks guys.

did you keep your original Dual mass? If not, I wouldnt bother getting another since it would stilll have to be mass balanced and you dont have the original to match it with. Crappy situation.

I agree with the others on the gears. There's a reason everyone wants 1000+ to swap gears (including the gears themselves). Anyone that says they can do it for $200 in my mind is FOS.
