New to the Corvette scene. 1987 Corvette Convertable. I was wondering what type of power increase can be expected on a stock C4 with the addition of a power chip like Hypertech?
I have not heard 1 good word on here about hypertech. IMO the best out there is www.pcmforless.com Do a search and you will find there are many happy customers on this forum that have used them.
About -10 for that chip
Your convert(I)ble would benefit from improved breathing in and out more than anything else just like any other sbc which is what the
L98 is
Welcome to the madness
Years back, I bought a Hyper Tech Thermo Master chip and installed the mandatory 160° thermostat. My 1.4 mile ETs slowed slightly. Luckily the seller allowed me to return it. Knowing what I know, I would stay away. I would experiment with some new miracle product if it had a money back guarantee, but I can pretty much predict the outcome.

Thanks
Spend your money on improving the exhaust system if it has stock or near stock setup. High flow main cat and dual outlet mufflers help quite a bit.

The previous posts are correct. Spend your money elsewhere. The Corvette calibration engineers were and are a bright bunch (I worked with several of them). If extra horsepower was as simple as changing a bit in the calibration memory chip, they would have done it. There might be the odd horsepower here or there that could be gained by a cal chip change, but generally it would be at the expense of durability, mileage, or emissions.
0 if any. Only thing I liked was the converter locking up quicker but (picked up a teensy bit of mph in the 1/4) thats about all I expected in the first place anyway. As far as the fans turning on sooner cant remember if that was due to the thermomaster chip, or installing different fan switchs/both, its been awhile. Would I do it again, no.
