Default Radiator cleaning

Just a suggest take a few minutes and check your radiator for debris on the fins. i was surprised on the amount of leaves ect on the bottom 1/3 of the surface area. hosed it away then ran it and hosed it a second time.
Runs cooler and can actually tell what temp my thermostat is 195 rests at 194 when cruising now.
Be careful of the fans.

Default How to clean the radiator

Ok even after owning 2 other C4's - is there a "easy" way to get at the radiator to clean the debris - I've tried going from the front, hard to reach anything, tried thru the slot on the passenger side with a pressure wand - got a lot of the debris out but I still see what appears to be grass and other crap still sticking out - tried thru the fan cowl (battery disconnected) and that was a waste - so anyone have any handy dandy suggestions???

On the passenger side, there is a peep space of an inch and a half wide. In the space, with a 3' legnth of PVC pipe connected to your
shop vac and the business end of the pvc pipe cut at an angle, vacuum until its clean.

I do the above a couple of times a year.

Check out the below thread. Post #10 of that thread has information on how the poster buiilt his wand using 3/4 PVC pipe and a slightly modified 90deg. bend.

I'm going to build one to use on my car.

Hope this helps.

Norm.

It is just too easy, especially the second time, to just pull the radiator when you do your biannual flush and refill. You can do a more thorough job of cleaning both radiator and condenser. You can also see and get to the fins for any necessary straightening.

RACE ON!!!

If you'd like to prevent 95% of this sort of debris from ever getting in there in the future, add a screen to catch it. If you're interested, check out this thread to see how I made mine:
