Just finished converting my 88 from auto to manual. Already logged about 100 miles on it and every thing seems to be fine.

The bottom of the car had damage from previous owner. I think he said he ran over a parking block at night.

Thats what I was implying, was re-glassing it in. Didn't mean body filler. I find fiberglass a lot easier to work with than anything else, but then again I used to work on nosebowls for planes, and they are most of the time fiberglass.

Ok man cool, but i posted a tread about a 6-speed swap not about the under side of the car. The car needs more work than that, trust me.

dude... just commenting. The floor is structural, to a degree... you went to a lot of work (and it, as I said above, looks GREAT!)... and to not patch up the floor seems odd to me.

BTW, do a search on the floor materials, I don't think it's simple fibreglass... I think it's the same SMC material as the rest of the car, to it will require a special epoxy.

I plan on doing the floor at a little later date. It will be fixed. The car is driven daily, so was kind of in a hurry. I will do plenty of research before attempting it. Thanks.

Nice work! I put sound deadening on my whole floor, two on the tunnel, it didn't help with gear rattle. Is that upper boot from the ZF6 parts car, or is that some universal boot?

So tell me more about this busted floor...

I did the same modification, although I do not handle the work myself. What flywheel and clutch assembly did you go with? I recently switched to a RAM disc, pressure plate, and new steel insert in the alum. flywheel (original style clutch went out) and now have now have serious clutch chatter in reverse, making reverse nearly impossible unless you don't mind the whole car rattled apart.

Great upgrade

The lower boot is from a 6-speed car.

I went with a Fidanza alum. flywheel and a EZ stage 3 clutch. I knew going in to this that the transmission would make some noise do to the single mass flywheel but damn. Havent got on it yet to see if clutch will hold. Still trying to break it in.

Looks great!!! Congrats on a project like that I did my 94 about a year and a half ago and love it. Much more fun. Have you done anything with the rear?? I ran my 2.59 D36 for 5mo and it sucked but I finally got a D44 with 4.09!! Much better. How is the gear rattle in neutral? Mine is much worse than I thought it would be; I just have to keep the clutch depressed..LOL. Great job!!

Yeah transmission noise is kind of bad but not to noticeable over the camshaft LOL. I have 3.73 gears in the D36. I already have the torque arm and driveshaft ready for when i blow it. At that time I will upgrade to D44.
