I've been contemplating doing this swap, myself. How about steering column/ignition switch? Does ur check engine light come on? Any wiring issues between the auto to manual swap? And lastly, what did u use for a console cover plate? Sorry if these questions seem trivial, but everyone who has covered this covers all the major areas, but it's those little odds and ends that truly complete the project that are never mentioned. TIA, Tom

No problems with steering column. There is a cable that runs from Auto shifter up the column (so u can only get the key out if its in park) just left that loose. No light or any problems with wiring. U will have to have a connector for the reverse light switch on trans. and a connector for new speed sensor. For the console lower cover i order a factory lower boot and I have a wheelskin universal upper boot coming. Ill let u know how that works out.

Do not change your speedo connector. The early and late speedometers aren't interchangeable.

Simply use the speedo that matches the year of your car. You can install it upside down to change between small (35-39T), and big (40T-45T) driven gears.

The automatic speed sensor connector is different than the one on the later ZF6. I changed the connector and it works great. Used a different tooth gear for the 3.73s.

Now you've got me confused. (BTW, not trying to argue, I just want to get my facts straight so I don't give any bad advice.)

What year ZF6 is it?

Did the original sensor look like this (and was it black or white) ?

or this?

I guess I don't understand why you had to change the connector.

The transmission was a brand new blue tag (later model). It had the sensor http://www.700raptor.com/VSS.jpg in it when purchased it and I used this connector http://www.transmissioncenter.net/Z232.jpg
All i did was cut the factory connector going to the stock speed sensor in the automatic and replaced it with the new connector for the ZF6. Beleive it or not it worked out great.

What did you need to do to add the clutch pedal and master cylinder on the firewall?

I used a 6-speed pedal assembly from a 94 vette. Replacing the brake pedal was pretty straight forward. The clutch pedal assembly attaches in two spots under dash (on top of medal frame, there should already be holes there) and at the front (firewall) it uses the same 2 bolts the master cylinder uses. I mocked it up first, then marked my 2 bolt holes for master cylinder. I then used the spacer plate (goes under hood between master cylinder and firewall) to mark my hole for the master cylinder rod. I thought it was going to be harder than it was. Not much to it really.

I did the same but have not got around to doing the top two bolts. last night I figured I'd get that done so I can drive the car (been sitting in the shop all winter). How the heck did you get nuts and bolts in the top two? I tried accessing it from the top but it's under the cowl. I can't figure out how I'm gonna get the top part bolted in.

Also my stupid pedal is bent (about 2-3" below the brake pedal) so Im gonna have to replace the pedal. ugg.

Looks great! What did you use to patch up around the cutout area?
