I know the 94 has OBD 1 and have a Tech 1 and knowledgeable with the on board diagnostics. The 96 was the first year to be fully OBD II. But in 94 and 95, they incorporated some of the OBD II protocol.
My question is has anyone ever tried connecting a OBD II code reader to the 94 year model. Will it extract any OBD II codes and is it safe to do? It looks like the wiring is compatibly with what I have seen.
Just don’t want to damage my OBD II code reader (which is for my other 2 cars) or the vette.
After looking and all kinds of diagrams on wiring, documentation and connections, I feet like it was safe to try my OBD II scanner to find out. The result was it did not link up and make a digital connection. So unfortunately I can not use the OBD II scanner to look for those codes on the 94 and 95 probably to.
Did go back to the FSM and did find the information on the OBD II codes. Went back and visited the Tech 1A. Never noticed when I scanned for DTC codes is also addresses the OBDII codes. Not ever having a OBD II code, I do not know what the response will be or how it will work. Perhaps in the future I can invoke a code and check it out further.
This particular code reader will not work on a 94. Look at the application guide. I bought one thinking it would hook to my 94. WIll return it tomorrow!
