Sometimes when I'm driving the car "hesitates" and feels almost like it's not getting enough gas, then when I take my foot off the gas pedal it smooths out. Sometimes the "Check Engine" light comes on and sometimes it doesn't, but it goes out when I come off the gas too. I thought it was a fuel problem so I have already changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump, now I'm thinking it might be a code 32. Does this sound like a "Code 32" to you???
When my MAF went out it did just that except I got no codes (I also replaced fuel pump and filter before I suspected MAF). Try disconnecting MAF wires, if that fixes the problem then you got a bad MAF
Hi Thumper, I had the same problem with my 89'. It would suddenly lose power and throw a code (Check Engine light). Tried replacing the MAF and burn-off relays and it still happened. It turned out to be a bad ECM. Sorry for the bad news, but I hope it helps you determine the cause.
I hope I am wrong because it cost me ~$500 to have it replaced.
Thanks for the replies. I disconected the MAF last night and that made it worse so I'm checking that off the list. I hope it's not the ECM. Great webpage, now since I know how to check the codes I'll do that tonight.

I couldn't feel anything. It will only happen usually during a cruising period of about ten minutes or more with no appreciable throttle change. I have a block off plate on mine, and feel nothing.
