Default Radiator Hoses

These need to be changed... Appear to be the original hoses...

Gates from Napa?
Goodyear?
Samco? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Suggestions?

New-ish water pump, 5000 miles or so. About 116k on the clock. No leaks, no problems just preventative stuff!

About a year ago I bought all my hoses for my Vette from a local Chevy dealer (when I was stationed in Colorado Springs) The prices were not bad and everything fit perfectly. This year I bought all new hoses for my Impala (just prepping the home front prior to hitting the sand box) from NAPA, the prices didn't seem any cheaper than GM and some of the hose were a little different. (I guess its like kissing a hot looking cousin everything works but doesn't seem right.) If I had to do it over I'd hit chevy up for the Impala hoses but at the time NAPA was open and Chevy was closed for the weekend. JMO.

I'm planning to get Samco hoses this winter (putting in a new water pump, too). Gonna go with the red ones like in the Summit link.

$168.00??? Are they going to last 5 to 10 times longer than anything else? In my opinion, that is nuts. Buy a decent hose made by a known manufacturer, Goodyear, Gates, etc, for a sane price, from a local retailer, Checker, Auto Zone, NAPA, etc and don't worry about them again for another 10 years or 100,000 miles.

RACE ON!!!

After having bought Samcos (had no choice, no GM hoses for mine) Id go with a good stock style one for an L98/LT1 car. Only 1 of my 17 year old hoses looked aged, the rest were fine. THe Samcos look cool and all but they are thinner than the rubber ones.

I went with Samco but I have to say only for cosmetic reasons.

They just look cool.

Gates, from any auto parts store. They fit correctly and are about 1/2 the price Vette vendors sell them for. Easy to return and exchange if they come up wrong....

I bought mine from NAPA. $109 out the door for all hoses. I even mixed in a few '95 hoses to cleanly bypass my TB (Mine's a '93).
