Default Engine Update, re-383.

I have had a few pm's in the last few weeks about my 383 build regarding how my build is going so far, so this is a little post about the build.

This year has been the busiest year of my life to date. I recently got married, started a new job, and recently bought a new home which will be built with a sweet 3 car garage which the vette will call home in the Spring of 2008. So needless to say the vette has been on the backburner for a little bit, but its not forgotten.

Yesterday, I got a call from "Mos90" forum member, and he advised me that he got the valve covers, timing chain, and 1.6 roller rockers I shipped out to him. As far as I know, the rotating assembly is all balanced, and the block is ready for the cam, lifters etc.....

This has been a long adventure, buying parts, selling parts, researching parts, but it will all be worth it next year when I rev the 383 to it's 6500 rpm potential, and make in the area of 400rwhp.

For the guys asking what parts I am going with, well here is the meat, and potato's. All I want is a mild 383, that isnt too hard to tune!

-383
-ZZ409 cam
-Miniram 2
-AFR Eliminator heads, 65CC
-splayed mains
-Lunati forged pro mod rods
-Eagle forged crank
-forged pistons

My goal with the car is to make power in the 400rwhp area, and trap on a cool day in the 117-118 mph range. I couldnt care less about e.t.

Take care guys!!

Rick, you've been a busy boy! I'm glad to see you went with some really good internals. The last I remembered, I think you were gonna use some Eagle internals. Not bad stuff, but I used a set of their lower priced 5.7" rods in '99 on a 406 I built, and I didn't feel as if they were any better than the OEM's. This has been a long trip, it'll be worth every minute of the wait.

We definitely have a race ahead don't we Rick? I gotta get my launch technique down though. Traction's a pain.

Hurry up and get 'er done.

[HIJACK] Snow hit here today, think I'll call the insurance company up and tell them I'm taking it off the road for the season. Never got it dynoed this year, so I'll be waiting for spring. Maybe you can have another dyno day. [/HIJACK]
