I doubt that you'll notice much if any difference. I'd recommended leaving the cats alone, they're not much of a restriction on an LT1 car. Instead remove the resonator and replace it with an X-pipe or cross-over. Any decent exhaust shop can do this. The stock LT1 mufflers sans resonator sound very good. Louder but not overwhelming and with a distinctive, muscular sound. Try it you'll like it.....

As usual the above guy is CORRECT. The resonator chokes down inside and that's the restriction. Besides the emissions aspect it will hurt resale in SOME areas with no cats.

Ya I guess i will try that, I dont want a loud car but its just so quiet right now you cant even hear it. I would like just a little bit more rumble. As for the resale about the cats I am from Canada and we dont need them here. But maybe I will just take the cats off and the resonators.

Sound is subjective but many find removing the mufflers is the best way to increase the sound without it being too much. Removing the resonator would give you more sound but removing the mufflers will give you alot more sound. Remove the resonator, cats and mufflers with straight pipe and it's get a ticket loud. just trying to help...

Well thanks for your help. I will see what some mufler shops can do for me. But I think I have to keep the mufflers on it. Thans again.

Here in the states you can remove the mufflers and SOME cars come from the factory without mufflers ! The Dodge Neon SRT4 has no mufflers for example. I can't imagine why you would have to keep them on the car. Good luck and f.w.i.w. removing the mufflers and replacing the LT1 tips can be had for about $100.00 or you can buy "muffler eliminators" for a couple of hundred from all the Corvette catalog houses. All those are is straight pipes with tips, bent to fit. Good Luck !!

I took the mufflers off mine and replaced the resonator with a Magnaflow dual in dual out muffler. It has a built in crossover and flows really well. As far as the sound, for me it is perfect. Louder but anywhere near obnoxious. I get lots of compliments and no funny looks from the Police.
