Default Play in steering column - 1990

Hi

My steering column moves side-to-side a bit. Seems like something is loose. Any thoughts? Would appreciate you insight. THANKS!

This comes up once or twice aweek, you may want to check the search function. You either have loose screws or worn pins/housing internally in the column. Vettes and F-bodies are really prone to this due to people pulling on the wheel when getting in/out of these low cars.

I went all the way to the four screws that are deemed to be the most likely culprit. Turns out it was the pivot pins, the screws were tight. Now I have to figure out how to take up the play in the pins. GM no longer has the parts you need to fixl it. GMParts direct can't get them any more either. Going to have to see if a machine shop can make me some sleeves. Good luck, hopefully it's just the screws.
