Cutting out the Resonator
I own a 96 CE lt4 and was wondering if there would be any improvements in hp if I cut out my resonator and replaced it with straight 3" pipes. Also what about the sound?
Any response would be appreciated.

Re: Cutting out the Resonator (mikeslt4)
Mike - I did mine about a yr. ago on my 92 convert. It was one of the best mods that I have done and it ran about $50.00. The horsepower gain is minimal ( i was told 5 to 10 ) but sound is so much better than stock. Its not loud but much more throaty at idle and WOT. I love the sound of mine now and you can always put it back on if u want. Let me know what you do - thanks Bruce

Re: Cutting out the Resonator (TOPLESSVETTE)
I have my resonator in my garage and I can tell you that you will gain no horse
power but your car will lose around 10lbs. If you could look at your resonator you would see that it has 2.5" pipes running through it with no restrictions or crossovers. It has a small holes around the pipe like my Magnaflows so that's why I junked mine. It was excess weight.
