87 auto with 148k miles. Ive looked through a lot of threads before posting but couldn't find my answer. My symptoms are 1. when its warm out my car cranks fine. 2. When its cold out and I try to crank my car I get a small surge like its trying to crank after turning over a few times, after that it goes back too just turning over. 3. If I immediatly try to recrank, it only turns over with no surge as before. 4. If I wait 30 secs or a minute and try to recrank I get the same results as listed in symptom #1. 5. If I hook up booster cables and crank, it turns over and repeatedly "surges" until it cranks. Ive recently (last 6 months) replaced the battery, alternator, plugs, fuel filter, pulled off the plenum and runners and bead blasted everything clean. Any ideas. I'm guessing its my cold start injector but seems like it could possibly be an ignition problem. Oh yeah, I'm only getting about 11-12 #s of oil pressure at idle when hot so a rebuild isn't far away. I'd just like to be able to drive it on cold mornings without having to boost it off.
Do you hear the fuel pump prime for a couple of seconds, when ignition is turned on ??
The pump relay could be your problem. It is backed up by the oil pressure switch, but since your oil pressure is really low, the back up may not help till it's running.
Check your fuel pressure and cold start valve operation while your at it. http://members.shaw.ca/corvette86/Fu...mDiagnosis.pdf http://members.shaw.ca/corvette86/Co...rt%20Valve.pdf
