Default High Water Temp

While driving home this evening, I got caught in some heavy traffic and was stopped for 4-5 minutes several times before the traffic cleared out. A couple of times, the water temp climbed up to over 200 degrees. Each time, when I got rolling again, the temp would go back down to a normal 170/180.

Does this sound normal. Should I consider going to a different thermostat?

In my LT1, 220-225 is the norm in traffic with the a/c on. If I remember correctly, the auxiliary fan doesn't come on until 230. Kind of scary until you get used to it.

I average 190 on teh highway, in traffic 220 is pretty normal, I hit 230 once, but when I put the A/C on, it dropped almost immediately to 210 in about 30 seconds.
