Default Cold Air Intake

Hey there everyone! I am getting a bonus at the end of the year and I was thinking about upgrading from a stock intake to a cold air intake of some sort for my '87 coupe. Now I am just curious on what other people are running under the hood for an intake. I am welcoming suggestions. I was thinking of the BPP Vortex Rammer I saw on the Ecklers site but I am not completely locked in, yet. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Spend your bonus on a good exhaust ie. headers or duals, those intakes are pretty much of a waste on your car.

If you are expecting a performance increase and you have not modded that car substantially - then stop and don't waste your money. The only real CIA is the one that you have to cut a hole in the front bumper.

I am getting Hedman Elite Headers to and X Pipe and back to some mufflers. I have a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch. I am thinking air intake would be my next mod. Would it be worth it or move on to something else?

For the money, is 1.6 ratio roller rockers the best I can do for my car. I haven't done much to my engine and I want to start right.

well if you've got a full exhaust already, yeah i'd say the rockers or a good tune. Either one would net you about 10 Hp. Of course the tune would be more beneficial later if you plan on doing more extensive mods.

Vortex is crap quality, but these cold intakes really dont do much for performance, I have the SLP one.

The best way to spend that $250 is 1.6RR

Does the SLP one have the covering over the filter the way the Vortex Rammer has on the C5s? The Vortex Rammer had the covering over the filter and the shroud was cut to allow cooler air to reach the filter. I remember seeing something along the lines that Vararam was going to or looking at producing one for the C4 as well.

Vararam for C4 is a pipedream.

SLP CAI is the stock housing, with a different cover that has a scoop built into it to reach down into the radiator shroud to get colder air.
